We redesigned the onboarding flow for a B2B SaaS tool and tripled their trial-to-paid conversion in 8 weeks. Here's what worked.

The Problem

The client had solid top-of-funnel traffic, but a massive drop-off right after account creation. Users were landing on an empty dashboard with a generic "Create New Project" button and leaving within 60 seconds.

The Solution: Opinionated Onboarding

We replaced the empty dashboard with a highly opinionated, 3-step setup wizard.

  1. Personalization: Ask the user their role (Marketing, Dev, Exec).
  2. Template Selection: Provide pre-filled, beautiful templates instead of a blank canvas.
  3. Quick Win: Guide them to complete exactly one high-value action within the first 3 minutes.

By defining success for the user instead of making them figure it out, trial-to-paid conversion jumped from 2.1% to 9.4%.
